The great spirit and problems of the elderly in New York. Many have worked hard all their lives but now live on low-fixed incomes that are not enough to pay for food or rent. This condition forces them to live in solitary single rooms where safety is an issue. In spite of it all, there is a feeling of dignity and pride about these elderly struggling to keep their final homes in the city. Occupant In The Single Room won the 19th Annual New York Emmy Awards for Outstanding Documentary Program.
